It is hard to tell you all the many things about Kathanika and
it's inhabitants. I think the first thing an outside observer
might notice is their fondness for dirt. People in Kathanika love
to roll and play in dirt. It's as if they were wandering alone
in a desert for weeks, surviving only on the sweat from their
baby camel's underbelly, and happened upon an oasis and now they
are wallowing in what they think is a soothing lake. But no, it's
just dirt. Hmm. I'm not sure if that's "Kathanikans"
per se, but it sounded good.
Kathanikans
are from all over the West Coast mainly, with some other folks
coming from out of the other parts of the country and world. Many
of the members have been attending Burningman for over 7 years
and have no plans of ever stopping.
The
Kathanika camp is represented by many things. I think one of the
most dominant "items" that the camp has had as a trademark
is the hookahs at storytime shisha. Click on the menu item to
the left for more on storytime shisha.
Another
thing that Kathanika has is a pretty ass kicking bar and many
people that like to drink from that bar.
Lately
it seems that all the members of Kathanika can think of is things
to wrap in bacon, make taste like bacon, or turn into bacon. Really,
you might expect to see some Kathanikans this year eating some
bacon wrapped dirt pies or something, maybe.
So
if you are out and about on the playa and make your way to our
camp, please do us the honor of stopping in, having a puff on
our hookahs, having a sip of our whiskey, and if we are grillin',
snack some of our grubs.
